Groom & Bride
James Ehlers
This handsome, blue-eyed, wine country farm boy who grew up in Lodi, California, decided to move down south to Los Angeles ten years ago to pursue his dreams of working in the film and television industry. A fellow coworker, who quickly became his best friend after moving to L.A., happened to moonlight as a magicians assistant at the historical Magic Castle, which James and their friends frequently visited to see her perform and enjoy a night of magical whimsy. March 16, 2013 was just another ordinary night out to the Magic Castle for James - the second night in a row actually - but this time while he was waiting for the show to start, he decided to turn around in the dark theatre to interrupt two girls behind him arguing about the differences between the iPhone 4 and 5. As fate would have it, it was Sarah and her sister. After shadowing the Joubert family around the rest of the evening accompanying Sarah, James had already met all of his future In-Laws without even knowing it yet - and his Bride-To-Be!
Sarah Joubert
This creative, color-loving, Orange County native gal has always had her heart set on one day living in Los Angeles, but it took a couple moves there and back home to find what God had planned for her there. Sarah has studied in LA schools and worked many freelance jobs as a photographer, artist and teacher, traveling back and forth from LA to OC so often for ten years now that she has become so familiar with these polar opposite cities, ready for LA to one day be her home. While Sarah’s parents never really seemed to understand Sarah’s love for the City of Angels, they always supported her but still were never too fond of traveling to the busy city themselves. However, thanks to employees of her dad’s company, the entire Joubert family was given tickets for Christmas to a night out to the Magic Castle in Los Angeles. The family randomly chose March 16th, 2013 to take a limo up from OC as a family to fully experience a classy night on the town. Now, with Sarah being the youngest of the three Joubert daughters and the only one still single, she got to be the “seventh wheel” that night - that is, until this Apple snob turned around to insult her iPhone 4 capabilities compared to her sister’s iPhone 5. While Sarah was initially annoyed that this incredibly good looking guy was proving her wrong in this silly argument, she was impressed by his accurate and in-depth explanation of the differences between lenses and camera components needed to be used in their current low-light conditions inside the theatre. To say the least, this handsome stranger had this photographer’s heart at “aperture.”
When & Where
Attire: Formal, Black-Tie Optional

Wedding Ceremony
Sarah and James chose this Los Angeles historical landmark as their church to be married in not only for it’s breathtaking architecture, but also because this church, founded in 1867, has the world’s second largest church pipe organ. With Sarah and James’ passion for music and particularly James being an incredible pianist, once they heard those pipes blasting, there was no question as to where they wanted to be and what they wanted to hear (and feel!) when they finally became one.

Wedding Reception
To continue sharing Sarah and James’ love of all the historical architecture that Los Angeles has to offer, they chose The MacArthur, founded in 1925 and previously known as The Park Plaza Hotel, to hold their wedding reception. The MacArthur's grand entry staircase, intricate architectural details and prohibition era hideouts throughout the structure is more than enough to give their guests a taste of this incredibly awesome and historical city they call home.

Our Hotel
There are so many hotels to choose from in Los Angeles, but the Hotel Normandie is a piece of history, and we love it.

Hotel & Rehearsal Dinner
Hotel Normandie was developed in LA's Wilshire in 1926 by Walker & Eisen, an architectural duo who produced many of Los Angeles' most iconic buildings during the 1920's and 30's including the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, United Theatre on Broadway and the Fine Arts Building. It is recently under new ownership by a group who wanted to save this hotel from demolition in order to preserve and restore it's history for the next generation.
A block of rooms has been reserved at a starting rate of $179 per night. Please reference the Joubert-Ehlers Wedding when reserving your room.
Welcome Cocktail Reception
Please join us for a Welcome Reception in honor of Sarah & James.
